The next generation of connected devices- humans.

My daily run through the NY Times, and this is what most caught my eye. It stood against contending pillars of the Kremlin elections and economy crises and yet I was so meticulously interested by this article.

Wortham chronicles the lightning speeds at which our generation has embraced, embodied, and became devoted to home tech systems. This includes, but will never be limited to- text bills, game subscriptions, and home cinemas. In such a state of economic uncertainty, people are spending excessive amounts of money on concerts and emails from the luxury of their couch.

But 'why', is the question. Most times, we don't even realize the Cox connection costs as much as it does. Nor does our iPhone ever tell us we've gone 3 hours over our 3g internet contract (oops). Yet most Americans think this fatal attraction to all things tech and wireless is completely normal. I'm making an active, alive, and kicking effort to reduce my phones, cables, and gas guzzling bills! The futile dollars saved per month on useless tech attachments contributes to larger savings for rent.

Ultimately, this is a letter severing my relationship with excessive subscriptions to 3g, purple berry connections. I'm sorry. It was fun while it lasted, but alas- I'm broke and starving. When it comes down to it, 2 options stand in the corner of the ring of the tech addicted 21st century- gaming on the couch or starving on the couch. I choose to fix the latter, as heart breaking as it may sound.

Love and the soon to be texting-iTouch-emailing absentee,
Daisy

P.S. If you liked this- you will definitely want to asses your self with this.

Review: L'oreal True Match foundation

Name: L'oreal True Match Super Blendable foundation

If I have ever done makeup on you, you all know that I never fail in using my L'oreal True Match, because it makes everyone's skin look radiantly flawless.Out of all the drug store brands available, I'm always picking out L'oreal makeup. In my opinion, they have the highest quality drug store makeup. That is, their eye shadows are SUPER pigmented and their foundation coverage is flawless. The product I will be raving about today is the True Match foundation.

Perks:
- SPF coverage (17 spf to be exact) is always a plus! Not only does the foundation make your skin look flawless, it has spf to protect from harsh sun rays and unwanted wrinkles
- super blendable, meaning the consistency is not chalky to leave crinkle marks nor is it too liquidy to slide off- just perfect!
- an array of colors, so you're bound to find the perfect match. More conveniently, they have 'cool', 'warm', and 'neutral' color undertones! No kidding, this is equivalent to the MAC color selection, that takes into account your undertone to perfectly match your skin color. This color selection eliminates the problem of having your skin look 'too yellow' or 'too pink', because it doesnt fit your undertone
- Leaves a dewy, fresh look- which is my FAVORITE!!! I love that it makes your skin look fresh, like morning skin
- lasts forever, really. Unlike regular liquid foundation, this one won't melt off your face

Not so perky:
- For those of you looking for foundation that treats oily skin, this is probably not one of them. I suggest trying Maybelline's Mousse Foundation which is specifically formulated for oily skin.
- The pour out bottle is not appealing. Mainly because I'm a germ o phobe and cant stand to re use the bottle neck, nor make a mess out of it and pour it into another container.
- Heavy coverage- this can be a fabulous or a not-so-fabulous perk, depending on how much coverage you want/need. If you don't like or don't need the coverage given in liquid, try the True Match powder which provides a light, matte coverage for a natural look! I also enjoy using this powder to set my foundation, its wonderful.

For myself, I need heavy coverage foundation. I have acne scarring, and my skin never looks porcelain so I definitely need something heavy duty that will last through work, school, and whatever else goes through my day. I hope this helped any of you deciding on an affordable, high quality foundation.

Long time no blog.

Hi All!

Lately, I've been preoccupied with 3 jobs and political research, and just maybe too many youtube videos than I can handle. But back to blogging.

Yesterday, I bravely biked into the mouth of evil- rain and thunder!!! Wearing pink boots and water resistant pants, I careened through puddles and pot holes all to sit in a cozy, comfy library. Sometimes I imagine to be Bear in the Big Blue House, sing to Luna the moon, and read books with all my little itty bitty rodent friends... sometimes. But now adays, I'm forced to stare into the lens of a camera pretending like I have real friends to share real dilemmas with. It is a sad life I lead, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Sometimes, like this morning, I wake up too early and bike to class too early. Last year, when I used to do this, I would be so pissed at myself for wasting essential sleeping time and I would cry silently about how much I detested being miles away from home. This year, I take a wiff of the fresh SB breeze and realize there's no place I'd rather be. Except Paris, of course. This year has been challenging, and I accepted it would be. But had no idea how exhausted I was when my ass was wrapped in a nice mache box, decorated with pink bow ties, and handed back to me at the end of Fall quarter. NO IDEA. All the italian sodas, 911 rolls, and library reserves I went through this quarter were worth every bit of time and commitment. Which leads me to my point (I know, finally), working hard is exhausting and potentially life threatening- but I do not want to be that person at high school reunion telling everyone I still live with my parents working at Macy's.

Speaking of Paris, there are 10 applicants and 3 spots. I'm hoping to brag about 21 units and hoping I can seduce the interviewer... except for I am not nearly as hot and witty as one would need to be to be sexy and seductive.

Peace and love,
Desperate Daisy still trying to figure the secret to being sexy

I'm planning to upload another video tomorrow? Is that too soon? Desperation at its best! HEHE, no shame no shame. Subscribe to daisybelleful!

Beauty Haul and 2009 Favorites!

This blog will be a particular blog, I will unleash my rants and raves about 2009 beauty products and the recent (and rare) Lush sale! Joy.

Favorites of 2009

Benefit's Benetint for an amazing natural stain, that lasts through lunch rushes, finals week, and steamy sessions watching Gossip Girl. Its pricey, so a drugstore dupe would be the Revlon Color Stay Lip Stains.

Lush Grease Lightning has the power (and I mean POWER) to zap zits overnight. Tea tree oil targets problem spots by clearing excess oil, drying up the issue. Not that my face is exemplary of Clean and Clear, but Grease Lightning is my new Lush guilt and at only 9.95 a pop, it's wooorth it. 2009 was filled with bottles of this baby.

Pinch O Peach me! By MAC, this blush is super versatile for night and day and creates the perfect flush. I like it because its matte, and color pay off is great without being over intense. Its hard to find a good blush, and having one really fabulous one makes life less complex ... kind of.

No need to spend $30 on that MAC 217 you've been dying to get, Mark's $5 blending brush is fantastic. So fantastic, in fact, I bought 4 this year alone. Too fluffy? Try wrapping a toilet paper around the bristles so they stay pointy.

Satin taupe is, by far, the best MAC eyeshadow ever. EVER! High color intensity, perfect satin pay off, and can be work day or night, summer or fall. For a cheaper alternative, NYX's Iced Mocha is the exact color (with a bit more fall out).

------------------
This past week I went to Lush and I almost peed my pants when they told me it was a Buy 1, Get 2 Free Sale. Thank the heavens and my recent paycheck for giving me the ability to splurge. Lush, if you dont already know, sells organic cosmetics (everything from shampoo to soap to bath bubbles) that can get pretty pricey so whenever they have a sale, I stock up.

Vanilla in the mist, smells like creme brulee- really. If you're as much of a dessert girl as I am, you will love this. Although, the color makes your hands look like they just got urinated on ... suffer for scent!

Porridge Soap. I know, I know sounds like a wash for grammy. BUT this soap acts as a dual exfoliator, and removes dead skin cells and makes your skin soft soft soft! I don't think it smells all that great, a bit sugary ... but weird old sugar thats expired.

ROCKSTAR, yes and you will feel it too. I continually purchase this soap, because its one of the cheaper ones and it smells like cotton candy roses. I WANT TO FREEKIN EAT IT, except one time I tried and almost puked. Thus, I only use it to wash.

Shampoos: Am I using these wrong? They all suck and made my hair dry and tangly (as if it isnt enough already). The one thing I like about them is that they made my head smell like the Lush store, which Reggie hated hehehehe TORTURE! The solid shampoo and conditioner are nearly impossible to apply in the shower, and crumbled all over the place which had me hobbling on the bathroom floor for quite some time trying to retrieve them. Call me what you want, these things are expensive!

I purchased these 3 shower gels and so far I LOVE EM! They make me want to eat myself (no innuendo intended ya nasties!) and actually moisturize skin. Snow Fairy is a limited holiday flavor, so get it while it lasts!

I got a bath scrub ... which is pretty expensive for just a sugar ball =P It completely breaks with water, so break of a bit before you get in. Also made my skin irritated because the sugar is just regular granulated sugar, not refined or special because Lush is, you know, 'organic'. Smelled good, but didn't feel good. The starfish I have yet to try.

My sister as the Tea Tree Oil toner and I really really like it, so she gave me her Eau Roma Water (which smells like Rose). So far, it hasn't done anything but make my face smell like a Daisy.

--------------
As always, thanks for reading my gargantuan blog. I'm sure you are starting to hear the voices of those pesky Lush workers asking you "Have you tried our bath bombs for only $19.95?!?!".

New years, new directions. Headed for Paris, and I'm not looking back.

Depressed Blogging.

The song that best sums up my life right now is Breathe by Taylor Swift. I've been so depressed.

I see your face in my mind as I drive away
We never thought it would end this way
Its killing me to see you go after all this time

Your the only thing I know like the back of my hand
And I cant breathe without you- but I have to.

Because I know when I drive away from SB, I'll be thinking of that doggone International Relations final with the innumerable times I wrote 'neoliberalist' thinking it was a real word, and getting points docked off- doh. Why can't wikipedia tell us these things before we write 10 page papers?

I will also miss my Monday and Wednesday time slot with Prof. Rauchhaus, the most bad ass balding man I have ever met. And yes, I do know IR like the back of my hand- terrorism ain't got nothin on me bitch!

1) Structure influences behavior.
2) Bad outcomes are unintended consequences.
3) Cognitive dissonance- the demon in us all!

Taylor always manages to write the songs that best sing my heart's lyrics. Sigh. Now I have to go to work and pester myself with all these depressing moments of leaving Fall quarter. We had a good time, but sadly, it was not for us. Thank you Fall, and maybe we'll meet some time in the future... maybe?

Just sayin'

I TOLD YOU SO! I TOLD YOU SO!
I FKN TOLD YOU SO! Wow. I am astonished. I wasn't that crazy to have insisted I would wear it. Or maybe I'm just as crazy as Kitty Purry?

New Moon- A feminist casuality.

Last night, my roommates and I ran in and out of 8 theaters feverishly looking for 4 seats in perfect unison. This was the first time in my life "NO RUNNING in the halls!!!!" was addressed to me (I felt like a giddy school girl). After settling on the second row (my neck is now permanently cramped), we embarked on an emotional, sexual, mental, physical (for some of us more than others, ha) journey- other wise known as the midnight showing of New Moon.

Unbeknownst to I, New Moon was filled with an over exaggeration of anti feminist roles. Mind you, I am not president of the Women Leaders club, nor a devout reader of Feminism USA, nor the effervescent promoter of abortion dumpsters- I am simply attempting to deal with the same tribulations in life as everyone else. I was appalled, ashamed, and embarrassed for Bella, the main character who cries, shrieks, and whines for every wet dog, pale faced narcissist.

Now I understand dating a vampire or werewolf is no easy task. I would, too, be distracted if my boyfriends face glittered as bright as Madonna's bustier. Let me sum up some of the problems I had with Bella:

1. Her actions, if reciprocated in reality, are exactly the same of women in abusive relationships. She is passive, forgiving, unquestioning and lost without Edward. Edward, her vampire boyfriend, embodied who she was in heart and mind, and without him she was a futile, lip-biting loser. After leaving and vowing to never see her again, Edward disappears without trace and Bella falls into (nearly clinical) depression, who's only escape is into the arms of another man. As romantic as it sounds, Bella lacks the self confidence, the self appreciation, and the self respect that a woman should have. The directors portray this as a norm in modern day society, where a woman's world revolves around her affection, and collapses with its void. THIS IS BULLSHIZ! Sorry but, the portrayal of a self pitying teenage girl is a harsh strike at the pedestal of female prowess.

2. Bella's character is never given initiative, and in fact relies and develops solely on the male characters. Maybe it’s just because I'm an over analyzer, but I counted 3 times when Bella was in HER car being driven by the man. Can she not be behind the wheel in the presence of her significant other? WHAT THE HELL?! First, they give her a completely lacking personality (more importantly no cool magical powers like her bfs!) then as if to confirm her inferiority, she is not permitted to drive her own car. Another kick to the 'woman on the ground' role.

3. Last and foremost, Bella is a clingy, psycho girlfriend, who's love impulses are as tumultuous as Lindsay's panty slips. Her happiness relies on the fact that she has the threat of a menacing vampire at her heels, and the scare of some Natives on werewolf crack- all in the name of lust. Instead, she is pitied through out the movie for her desperate cries for help from a man and constantly pleading for someone to save her. GIVE ME A BREAK! See picture: She goes so far as to attempt to drown herself for the love of Edward- is this a hidden message for girls on how to deal with relationships and broken hearts?

(ALSO, who in their right mind would reject Jacob?! THATS RIGHT! No one. If that doesn't prove to you how idiotic her character is, I don’t know what will. Just kidding ... kinda.)

Ultimately, New Moon was a sad realization of the role of women in modern day cinema. With such influential female movies like Million Dollar Baby, New Moon seemed to sock, pummel, and walk on the audacity of women. I know most of you are thinking "Woah Daisy, calm down! It’s only one movie". But considering that New Moon is expected to have more net gross than Heath Ledger's Dark Knight or any of the Harry Potter movies (WHICH IS A BIG FKN DEAL TO ME!!!!), I'd say the undertones of New Moon will engrave this female persona into millions of Edward-Cullen-obsessed-turned-Jacob yearning fans- female or not.

Too much head nodding and open mouthed smiling.

Don't you hate it when your starring at 2 friends who are hysterically laughing at a joke you haven't the slightest idea about? You continually nod your head and flash that smile- you know, the one that you give to someone speaking to you in a language you don't understand until you realize its broken English with a bad accent. This goes on for quite some time, two minutes, ten minutes ... the whole lunch date. You wonder if these idiots, will ever realize that you are in fact sitting amongst them, with them, and were even invited to join. They go on, entranced in their own little world of drunken nights, slutatious fun- and then, they glance over (noticing your weird open mouthed, gaping smile) and say-

"Sorry, inside joke!"

As if to confirm your social inadequacy! Doh. And when they do snap back to reality, the awkwardness in the air is enough to make you eat your coleslaw, fatty mayo and all. Or some really anti social people, pull out their Purpleberry and start rapidly texting, giggling to themself, as if to establish their own little secret with an unknown amor. So, my question is- what does one do when faced with this inevitable, regrettable, dreadful situation?

1. Nod and pretend as though you completely know what they are talking about. IE: "HAHAHAA, hello kitty hello kitty-so funny!". But you run the chances of two outcomes- if you have really mean 'friends', they'll stare at you- hard- shake their heads and say "No Daisy, killed it". If you have slightly nicer friends, they will pretend to laugh and include you on their little joke, but don't be fooled! This compliance only exaggerates the awakwardness in the air, because they know as well as you that their hotel of inside jokes is FULL- no vacancy, no extra twin beds, no couch sleeping!

2. There is no way (in hell!) I can attempt to imagine both your memories of the 3rd grade french teacher who taught you all how to sing Frère Jacques whilst eating crepes. But instead of admitting defeat, I'll say "WOW, your teacher was soooo funny!" or "I know that song! Ding ding dong...!". And then you'll look at me, with sarcastic eyes pitying my yearn for acceptance (!), and say "You just had to be there." BURN! This outcome, is probably the one of the biggest rejections you will ever experience (right up there with kindergarten rejection and getting a mark in the 'no' box in "do you like me?" letters). Lets examine this- it explicitly confirms your insignificance by declaring; 1) you were NOT there, and 2) you will NEVER be there (unless you have a time machine), which concludes: you are not us, you're not in our joke, you're expelled, you're rejected, and finally- we see your futile attempts, but sorry NO. Jeez, harsh.

So I have a solution. Why don't we all just be nice and include everyone in our conversations? And I know you think its all cool to go CIA secretive, but just chill out! Your not that cool. Here's to an end to blank eyes, open mouths and potential friendship ending situations!

Or maybe I'm jealous of people with inside jokes and my head is tired of nodding to things I don't understand. Or maybe, as an inside joke, I wrote this blog to further strangle you non-inside jokers! Or maybe, because I think its mean to say "Sorry, inside joke!".

4 letter words are never a good sign.

Valerie and my pussy.

------------------------

Midterms are OVER! Over. Over.

Today I took a nauseating LSAT prep course, including a 4 hour practice test. Results: the last section I answered 3/25 questions correct. Harvard here I come!

And then, because I pitied myself waaay too much, I went to the library for four hours to study. I saw my Poli Sci TA, which I think gave me extra credit in his heart. The library has become my second home, where a desk in the study room is always vacant, always clean, conveniently close to a wall outlet, and other students know never to sit in it for fear of me! Am I paranoid to pack up my laptop and my books whenever I feel the urge to go to the restroom for five minutes? Or just recheck out my reserves? Or use the printer in the next room? Am I? AM I? AM I?!

Results of Halloween- disastrous! Rejinald was a pirate for the fourth year in a row, and I wore a hand-me-down sailor suit.
