The next generation of connected devices- humans.

My daily run through the NY Times, and this is what most caught my eye. It stood against contending pillars of the Kremlin elections and economy crises and yet I was so meticulously interested by this article.

Wortham chronicles the lightning speeds at which our generation has embraced, embodied, and became devoted to home tech systems. This includes, but will never be limited to- text bills, game subscriptions, and home cinemas. In such a state of economic uncertainty, people are spending excessive amounts of money on concerts and emails from the luxury of their couch.

But 'why', is the question. Most times, we don't even realize the Cox connection costs as much as it does. Nor does our iPhone ever tell us we've gone 3 hours over our 3g internet contract (oops). Yet most Americans think this fatal attraction to all things tech and wireless is completely normal. I'm making an active, alive, and kicking effort to reduce my phones, cables, and gas guzzling bills! The futile dollars saved per month on useless tech attachments contributes to larger savings for rent.

Ultimately, this is a letter severing my relationship with excessive subscriptions to 3g, purple berry connections. I'm sorry. It was fun while it lasted, but alas- I'm broke and starving. When it comes down to it, 2 options stand in the corner of the ring of the tech addicted 21st century- gaming on the couch or starving on the couch. I choose to fix the latter, as heart breaking as it may sound.

Love and the soon to be texting-iTouch-emailing absentee,
Daisy

P.S. If you liked this- you will definitely want to asses your self with this.

Review: L'oreal True Match foundation

Name: L'oreal True Match Super Blendable foundation

If I have ever done makeup on you, you all know that I never fail in using my L'oreal True Match, because it makes everyone's skin look radiantly flawless.Out of all the drug store brands available, I'm always picking out L'oreal makeup. In my opinion, they have the highest quality drug store makeup. That is, their eye shadows are SUPER pigmented and their foundation coverage is flawless. The product I will be raving about today is the True Match foundation.

Perks:
- SPF coverage (17 spf to be exact) is always a plus! Not only does the foundation make your skin look flawless, it has spf to protect from harsh sun rays and unwanted wrinkles
- super blendable, meaning the consistency is not chalky to leave crinkle marks nor is it too liquidy to slide off- just perfect!
- an array of colors, so you're bound to find the perfect match. More conveniently, they have 'cool', 'warm', and 'neutral' color undertones! No kidding, this is equivalent to the MAC color selection, that takes into account your undertone to perfectly match your skin color. This color selection eliminates the problem of having your skin look 'too yellow' or 'too pink', because it doesnt fit your undertone
- Leaves a dewy, fresh look- which is my FAVORITE!!! I love that it makes your skin look fresh, like morning skin
- lasts forever, really. Unlike regular liquid foundation, this one won't melt off your face

Not so perky:
- For those of you looking for foundation that treats oily skin, this is probably not one of them. I suggest trying Maybelline's Mousse Foundation which is specifically formulated for oily skin.
- The pour out bottle is not appealing. Mainly because I'm a germ o phobe and cant stand to re use the bottle neck, nor make a mess out of it and pour it into another container.
- Heavy coverage- this can be a fabulous or a not-so-fabulous perk, depending on how much coverage you want/need. If you don't like or don't need the coverage given in liquid, try the True Match powder which provides a light, matte coverage for a natural look! I also enjoy using this powder to set my foundation, its wonderful.

For myself, I need heavy coverage foundation. I have acne scarring, and my skin never looks porcelain so I definitely need something heavy duty that will last through work, school, and whatever else goes through my day. I hope this helped any of you deciding on an affordable, high quality foundation.

Long time no blog.

Hi All!

Lately, I've been preoccupied with 3 jobs and political research, and just maybe too many youtube videos than I can handle. But back to blogging.

Yesterday, I bravely biked into the mouth of evil- rain and thunder!!! Wearing pink boots and water resistant pants, I careened through puddles and pot holes all to sit in a cozy, comfy library. Sometimes I imagine to be Bear in the Big Blue House, sing to Luna the moon, and read books with all my little itty bitty rodent friends... sometimes. But now adays, I'm forced to stare into the lens of a camera pretending like I have real friends to share real dilemmas with. It is a sad life I lead, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Sometimes, like this morning, I wake up too early and bike to class too early. Last year, when I used to do this, I would be so pissed at myself for wasting essential sleeping time and I would cry silently about how much I detested being miles away from home. This year, I take a wiff of the fresh SB breeze and realize there's no place I'd rather be. Except Paris, of course. This year has been challenging, and I accepted it would be. But had no idea how exhausted I was when my ass was wrapped in a nice mache box, decorated with pink bow ties, and handed back to me at the end of Fall quarter. NO IDEA. All the italian sodas, 911 rolls, and library reserves I went through this quarter were worth every bit of time and commitment. Which leads me to my point (I know, finally), working hard is exhausting and potentially life threatening- but I do not want to be that person at high school reunion telling everyone I still live with my parents working at Macy's.

Speaking of Paris, there are 10 applicants and 3 spots. I'm hoping to brag about 21 units and hoping I can seduce the interviewer... except for I am not nearly as hot and witty as one would need to be to be sexy and seductive.

Peace and love,
Desperate Daisy still trying to figure the secret to being sexy

I'm planning to upload another video tomorrow? Is that too soon? Desperation at its best! HEHE, no shame no shame. Subscribe to daisybelleful!

Beauty Haul and 2009 Favorites!

This blog will be a particular blog, I will unleash my rants and raves about 2009 beauty products and the recent (and rare) Lush sale! Joy.

Favorites of 2009

Benefit's Benetint for an amazing natural stain, that lasts through lunch rushes, finals week, and steamy sessions watching Gossip Girl. Its pricey, so a drugstore dupe would be the Revlon Color Stay Lip Stains.

Lush Grease Lightning has the power (and I mean POWER) to zap zits overnight. Tea tree oil targets problem spots by clearing excess oil, drying up the issue. Not that my face is exemplary of Clean and Clear, but Grease Lightning is my new Lush guilt and at only 9.95 a pop, it's wooorth it. 2009 was filled with bottles of this baby.

Pinch O Peach me! By MAC, this blush is super versatile for night and day and creates the perfect flush. I like it because its matte, and color pay off is great without being over intense. Its hard to find a good blush, and having one really fabulous one makes life less complex ... kind of.

No need to spend $30 on that MAC 217 you've been dying to get, Mark's $5 blending brush is fantastic. So fantastic, in fact, I bought 4 this year alone. Too fluffy? Try wrapping a toilet paper around the bristles so they stay pointy.

Satin taupe is, by far, the best MAC eyeshadow ever. EVER! High color intensity, perfect satin pay off, and can be work day or night, summer or fall. For a cheaper alternative, NYX's Iced Mocha is the exact color (with a bit more fall out).

------------------
This past week I went to Lush and I almost peed my pants when they told me it was a Buy 1, Get 2 Free Sale. Thank the heavens and my recent paycheck for giving me the ability to splurge. Lush, if you dont already know, sells organic cosmetics (everything from shampoo to soap to bath bubbles) that can get pretty pricey so whenever they have a sale, I stock up.

Vanilla in the mist, smells like creme brulee- really. If you're as much of a dessert girl as I am, you will love this. Although, the color makes your hands look like they just got urinated on ... suffer for scent!

Porridge Soap. I know, I know sounds like a wash for grammy. BUT this soap acts as a dual exfoliator, and removes dead skin cells and makes your skin soft soft soft! I don't think it smells all that great, a bit sugary ... but weird old sugar thats expired.

ROCKSTAR, yes and you will feel it too. I continually purchase this soap, because its one of the cheaper ones and it smells like cotton candy roses. I WANT TO FREEKIN EAT IT, except one time I tried and almost puked. Thus, I only use it to wash.

Shampoos: Am I using these wrong? They all suck and made my hair dry and tangly (as if it isnt enough already). The one thing I like about them is that they made my head smell like the Lush store, which Reggie hated hehehehe TORTURE! The solid shampoo and conditioner are nearly impossible to apply in the shower, and crumbled all over the place which had me hobbling on the bathroom floor for quite some time trying to retrieve them. Call me what you want, these things are expensive!

I purchased these 3 shower gels and so far I LOVE EM! They make me want to eat myself (no innuendo intended ya nasties!) and actually moisturize skin. Snow Fairy is a limited holiday flavor, so get it while it lasts!

I got a bath scrub ... which is pretty expensive for just a sugar ball =P It completely breaks with water, so break of a bit before you get in. Also made my skin irritated because the sugar is just regular granulated sugar, not refined or special because Lush is, you know, 'organic'. Smelled good, but didn't feel good. The starfish I have yet to try.

My sister as the Tea Tree Oil toner and I really really like it, so she gave me her Eau Roma Water (which smells like Rose). So far, it hasn't done anything but make my face smell like a Daisy.

--------------
As always, thanks for reading my gargantuan blog. I'm sure you are starting to hear the voices of those pesky Lush workers asking you "Have you tried our bath bombs for only $19.95?!?!".

New years, new directions. Headed for Paris, and I'm not looking back.
